Oliver decides that his next target is going to be someone on Digg's list: Deadshot. They set a trap for him and Digg's spy friends get involved as well. Meanwhile, Laurel's latest clients are Eric and Nancy Moore who have agreed to testify against Edward Rasmus, a financial advisor who swindled them. The night before their deposition however, they are assassinated. Laurel takes charge of their now orphaned son, Taylor, but he saw his parents killed and is now the assassins next target. Oliver steps in to stop him but in doing so fails to back up Digg and Deadshot escapes. It creates a rift and Diggs walks out. A flashback to the island show Oliver, Wilson and Shado are preparing to free Yao Fei.

The Undertaking
After taking a mob accountant's laptop, Oliver plans to return the money to its rightful owners. Felicity however finds that Dominic Alonzo - the operator of an illegal casino and the head of a gang known for kidnapping - was paid $2 million to kidnap Walter. Arrow pays him a visit and is told that Walter is dead. He tells his mother and Thea but Moira rushes to Malcolm Merlyn demanding to know why he broke their agreement. He assures her that Walter is alive and will be released as long as she continues to cooperate. Oliver is listening to the entire conversation and now knows that his mother is involved, just as Digg had warned him. Flashbacks reveal Malcolm's plan and also the the sinking of Robert Queen's luxury yacht was no accident. Laurel meanwhile tries to make up with Tommy and finally learns the real reason he broke up with her.

Darkness on the Edge of Town
Oliver realizes that his mother must be involved in both husbands' dire fates and sets a trap to learn how much by pretending they're both kidnapped by the hooded Vigilante, actually impersonated by Diggle, threatening to torture them to death, but she maintains to have 'had no choice to save her family', so he 'escapes' with her, in time to be served divorce papers by Walter. Roy uses Thea's socialite status to look for the Vigilante, which just like Felicty's hacking and the police's leads ti the Merlyn HQ. Oliver uses a visit to buddy and embittered love rival Tommy to get to Malcolm's office while Diggle infiltrates security and Felicity diverts, but misses the window to prevent Roy and Thea getting in too deep, after which Roy rather risks loosing her then giving up on finding the Vigilante, whom he needs as a mentor. Oliver makes up and makes love with Lauren and dispatches Diggle to secure the seismic device, but the time he reenters Malcolm's office, hooded, for a face-off, it's already relocated and the fiend scarily well-prepared.

Moira goes public with what she knows, urging the residents of the Glades to evacuate. Roy and Thea get caught up in the mayhem. While Oliver and Digg go after Malcolm, Felicity tries to neutralize the device via Lance. Malcolm has planned it all very well, however. In a flashback to his time on the island, Fyers attempts to bring down an airliner.

Oliver barely notices that team mates Felicity and Diggle make sacrifices too, now to stop the theft of vital medical supplies to the Glades by combined thug forces. Flashbacks reveal how Sara survived the sinking of the Queen family yacht 6 years ago and what happened after she was rescued. She fends off Oliver's questions about her past but after they are attacked by a member of the league of assassins she opens up. The killer was after her, not Oliver, and admits that after she was rescued, she too was trained and became a member of the league. They join forces to track down the assassin. Meanwhile, Oliver learns that Laurel will be second chair for his mother's upcoming trial. Moira is offered a way to avoid the death penalty - plead guilty and get life imprisonment. She's inclined to accept but her children beg her to reconsider.

After Digg learns that Lyla Michaels has disappeared in Moscow while tracking down Deadshot, he decides to head to Russia to find her. With Moira's trial soon to start, her lawyer warns Thea that her relationship with Roy may harm her mother's case. Flashbacks reveal that Oliver spent time on the freighter with Ivo and Sara.

A flu-like virus is spreading across the city and Digg is very ill. A blood test reveals trace amounts of Vertigo which Oliver traces to the Count, who escaped from prison during the earthquake. The antidote Oliver had previously used doesn't seem to be working. The Count seems to have found a way to get much of the city hooked. When he takes Felicity prisoner, Oscar sets out to rescue her - but the Count tells him he's not working alone. It's time for Moira Queen's trial but soon after it starts, the lead prosecutor collapses leaving Laurel Lance, who had been second chair, to take over the case. Someone from Moira's past reappears.

After learning that Sebastian Blood's mother has died, Laurel asks the Arrow to look into Blood's background. Their attempt to get information about how Blood's father died is unsuccessful - although they get the file from the city archive, the contents have been stolen. Oliver has been one of Blood's strong supporters and tries to find out what is going on. Slade takes Blood to task for putting them all at risk and tells him to fix the situation or else. Blood turns his sights on Laurel. Roy meanwhile reveals his newfound strength to Sin but gets the cold shoulder from Thea when he refuses to tell her exactly what is going on. He and Sin decide they no longer need Arrow and decide to go after the man attacking working girls, known as the Starling Slasher. In a flashback to the island, Oliver and Sarah disagree on just how to move forward.

She becomes despondent when she learns she may be disbarred. In a flashback to the island, Oliver and Sara try to locate Slade.

After The Clock King infiltrates the computer systems in the lair, Felicity feels pressure to prove her worth. When she gets a lead on Tockman's whereabouts, she heads out without the team, putting her in peril. Meanwhile, Oliver throws Sara a welcome home party, but Laurel refuses to attend. After Lance makes his case for a family dinner, Laurel acquiesces, but when Oliver shows up with Sara, she loses her temper on both of them.
